The lemonade my whole family drinks every day
My favorite summer electrolyte, and the flavor that finally won me over.

THE SHORTCUT
What it is
LMNT is an electrolyte mix you stir into water. I know, I know - electrolytes are everywhere right now. LMNT was one of the first I saw a few years ago, and what sets it apart is that it’s saltier than most. Too much for some people. Perfect for someone like me who runs low on salt from dysautonomia. If you need less sodium in your diet, this one probably isn’t for you and check out another recommendation below.

The move
Make a pitcher with cold water and a couple of packets of the new Lemonade flavor. That’s it. So refreshing, with electrolytes and minerals built in. My whole family drinks it, and one packet a day really does help your mineral levels, especially when you’re sweating all summer.

The deeper cut
Probably five years ago I bought a variety pack to start and I didn’t love the flavored ones. Too sweet for me, and I really can’t stand many kinds of sweeteners in things like this. My husband and kids loved all the flavors though so we’ve had lots of different ones over the years. I stuck with the plain OG unflavored salt version for a very long time. Everyone I’ve met says that one is awful. I love it. So I’m clearly the weirdo, because most people like the flavors.
Then this spring they dropped new flavors and the Lemonade is THE one. Different from the citrus they already had, and I’m obsessed. I don’t put a full packet in one glass - too strong for me - but one packet lasts me a couple glasses of water and that’s what works for me. Try a little to start and build up if the flavor is too strong for you. I’ve tried plenty of other brands (Ultima, gross; ReLyte, yuck; Liquid IV, I wouldn’t touch the ingredients). The one other line I like is Just Ingredients, especially the Raspberry Lemonade (get $10 off through my link). Just Ingredients uses real fruit for flavor, you can taste the difference, and my kids love those best so I keep them around. Real fruit means a few carbs, so while I’m in my low-carb era I’m sticking with the LMNT Lemonade.
